Memorable Moments:

  • 16th September 1975: ‘Pennine Radio’ is first broadcast from Pennine House, Bradford.
  • 1984: Start broadcasting 24 hours a day.
  • 4 December 1984: Start broadcasting to Kirklees and Calderdale (as well as Bradford).
  • Late 1980s: Rebranded and split in two becoming ‘Pennine FM’ and ‘Classic Gold’.
  • 30th August 1991 ‘Pennine FM’ became ‘The Pulse’.
  • ‘Classic Gold’ has been reincarnated as ‘Great Yorkshire Gold’, ‘Great Yorkshire Radio’, ‘1278 and 1530 AM West Yorkshire’, ‘West Yorkshire's Big AM’, ‘Pennine's Big AM’, ‘West Yorkshire's Classic Gold’, ‘Pulse Classic Gold’ and lastly ‘Pulse 2’.
  • In July 2014: ‘Pulse 1’ and ‘Pulse 2’ moved to 1 St James’ Business Park, Bradford.

Our First Broadcast:

  • The first presenter on Pennine Radio was Steve Mericke.
  • The first song played was ‘Can’t Let Maggie Go’ by Honeybus.
