Hanson Applies Further Beauty To Mc’s Factor After Oxford Blemish
What a month it has been!
The higher you get, the harder you fall – just ask any coconut, but Stuart McCall’s Bradford City have maintained a consistent start to this seasons’ campaign with only one defeat and currently sit 3rd position in the League One table.
What I’ve admired about McCall in this second spell is that he’s a become a serious problem solver, maybe not in Rubix Cube terms but when it comes to setting out a well organised team who play for each other to ensure points are gained after 90 minutes, the evidence is there to see – especially when the defence is made up of four central defenders!
This said, we have started to see teams coming to Valley Parade over the past few weeks with such a high pressing game forcing Colin Doyle to play it long, this is where James Hanson becomes so valuable (if he wasn’t already) in terms of mixing up the team game but this also gives McCall a chance to set problems of his own for the opposition managers to try and solve.
Talking of problems, I’m sure Hanson was as relieved as anyone to quieten the cluster of individuals that jump on his back whenever he takes to the field (fans and opposition players!) by netting a brace against AFC Wimbledon. Hanson is so vital to this team, you saw Man City go to the Nou Camp a few weeks ago and Pep benched their key man Aguero, that’s like setting up a Tinder profile and actually being honest about yourself in the bio! James is still our main man, he does a job in defence, and it’s fair to say he doesn’t score enough goals but he can link up with Hiwula, McNulty or the rejuvenated Billy Clarke who seems to have been reborn this season playing in his roaming number 10 role.
In the light of things and in this current moment it’s all positive, we (as fans) all need to remember to look at the situation the team is in and appreciate these brilliant moments in the present.
Let’s hope these wonderful moments continue this weekend against Accrington in the first round of the FA Cup!
