Food For Thought
The number of people forced to use foodbanks in the UK continues to rise.
One charity has reported a huge increase in use and has provided emergency 3 day supply food parcels to over 1.2 million people in crisis, 43% of these went to children.
The figures show the stark reality that food poverty continues to increase at an alarming rate with welfare payment delays and low income being the biggest causes.
Here at Pulse 1 and Pulse 2 we’ve been investigating foodbank use in Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale, we’ve spoken to people who have been forced to use foodbanks, we’ve spoken to councillors and we’ve spoken to some of the foodbank charities in our area.
