Drop-in event for local women's charity
Monday, December 9th
It is a sad fact that incidents of domestic abuse increase over the festive period and two local women's charities, WomenCentre in Halifax and Pennine Domestic Violence Group in Huddersfield are in need of donations. They currently require the following items- toiletries (shower gel, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and face masks), packs of underwear and towels.
There is a drop-in event on Monday 9th December at Halifax Fire Station, HX1 3JF. The community room will be open from 10am-4pm where we will gratefully receive donations and as a thank you there will hot drinks and mince pies. There is also the opportunity to speak to nurses from the local trust and safeguarding representatives from the police and a domestic violence charity will be visiting.
This is an event to raise awareness of domestic abuse in all its forms. We wish to gather donations for the local charities and also invite women to share their stories and support those who may be currently suffering domestic abuse. We are here and we are listening.
