Hundreds of jobs to be created as LBIA builds more shops and a new departure lounge.
Leeds Bradford Airport have today announced a major new investment which they say will create hundreds of jobs for people in West Yorkshire.
£11 million is being pledged in 2012 to extend areas of the airport and improve facilities such as new shops along with an expanded departure lounge.
A covered walkway for passengers to reach aircraft from the terminal will also be introduced.
Tony Hallwood Commercial Director said: "It can be great for the local economy, not just around the airport, but right across the Leeds city region."
"We're bringing in new retailers and extending the choice of bars and food offering and duty free, which means they themselves will be looking to employ more staff and looking to provide more choice for our customers."
The construction will provide work for 100 building workers and will be finished in summer 2012.
