Four Injured In A1 Crash

A1 has been closed for most of today after lorry overturned at junction 44.

Four men have been taken to hospitals in the local area after the accident just after 6 this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which occured 1 mile north of Junction 44. 

A HGV was travelling on the soutbound carriageway when it swerved to avoid some debris in the road. The HGV overturned, colliding with the central reservation and shedding its load of cardboard and paper across both carriageways.

As a result of the collision, a Jaguar and a Ford Focus were also involved.

The driver of the Ford Focus sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries while the remaining three men suffered minor injuries.

Enquiries are on going.
