Help Beat HIV In West Yorkshire

Terrence Higgins Trust urge people to give their support as part of World Aids Day.

People in West Yorkshire are being encouraged to support people living with HIV as part of today’s world AIDS day.

The Terrence Higgins Trust are asking people to get involved with their campaign to raise awareness and fund prevention services.

Jackie Reading from the charity in Leeds said: "In Yorkshire and Humberside, there has been a 4% increase in HIV just in the last 12 months."

"If you compare where we are now with where we were in 2001, there has been a 100% increase. It just shows that people do need to be aware."

Meanwhile, the government says it's considering relaxing restrictions on NHS workers with HIV.

A review found there was an "extremely low" risk of the disease being passed to patients.
