Artist Of The Week: Gregory Porter
This week Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter Gregory Porter gets the Artist of The Week treatment.
Born in L.A and raised in California this cap wearing jazz singer has had an incredible 2014 with his album Liquid Spirit inning the 'Best Jazz Vocal Album' at the Grammys and has now reached Gold sales in the UK.
Gregory cites Nat King Cole as his biggest inspiration but before making a career out of his velvety deep jazz voice, Gregory had to end a promising American Football career due to injury.
And right before becoming a recording artist he was a professional chef in Brookyln. Gregory believes Music and Food are two of the most important things in life and a great gift to share with people. His speciality is soup and ladies in the neighbourhood still call out to him and ask when he plans to make some more of his famous Turkey Chilli soup!
At Christmas Gregory dueted with Julie London for Fly Me To The Moon in aid of Make-A-Wish® UK and heard on the M&S Christmas advert.
Gregory releases the fan favourite 'Water Under Bridges' featuring long-time fan Laura Mvula on Monday 26th January.
To win a Deluxe copy of Liquid Spirit, keep listening to Jacqui Monday to Friday between 10 & 2pm
